Masahiko Inami

Dr. Masahiko Inami took up his current position as professor at the University of Tokyo after working at the University of Electro-Communications and Keio University. His interests include “JIZAI body editing technology,” the Augmented Human, and entertainment engineering. He has received several awards, including TIME Magazine’s “Coolest Invention of the Year” award and the Young Scientist Award and Research Category Award from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT). He is also a director of the Information Processing Society of Japan, a director of the Virtual Reality Society of Japan, and a member of the Science Council of Japan. His latest book is called “Theory of JIZAI Body" (Springer, 2023). 

Hirokazu Kato

Hirokazu Kato received the BE, ME, and Dr. Eng. degrees from Osaka University, in Japan, in 1986, 1988, and 1996, respectively. He is an executive director and vice president of the Nara Institute of Science and Technology (NAIST), Japan. He joined the Faculty of Engineering Science, Osaka University from 1989 to 1999. In 1999, he joined the Faculty of Information Sciences, Hiroshima City University in Japan. In 2003, he joined the Graduate School of Engineering Science, Osaka University. Since 2007, he has been a professor with the Graduate School of Information Science, NAIST. He studied human computer interaction and computer vision. When he joined the Human Interface Technology Laboratory (HIT Lab), University of Washington as a visiting scholar in 1998, he started conducting research on augmented reality, which is currently his main research topic. He received the Virtual Reality Technical Achievement Award from IEEE VGTC in 2009. He also received the Lasting Impact Award at the 11th IEEE International Symposium on Mixed and Augmented Reality in 2012. Additionally, in 2022, he was selected as an Inaugural Member of the IEEE VGTC Virtual Reality Academy, and in 2023, he was the recipient of the ISMAR 2023 Career Impact Award.
